Steven Barczi, MD, Education Director and Sleep Fellowship Director
Dr. Barczi is an associate professor of medicine in geriatrics and adult development at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) as well as director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship program. He is a clinician-educator in geriatrics-primary care and sleep disorders and is board certified in geriatric medicine, internal medicine and sleep medicine. Dr. Barczi’s research interests include the increased prevalence and consequences of sleep apnea as it pertains to stroke and the mechanisms and management of sleep changes occurring in dementia.

Ruth Benca, MD, PhD, Program Director
Dr. Benca is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. Dr. Benca is a past president of the Sleep Research Society and the Associated Professional Sleep Societies and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. She is board certified in psychiatry and certified by the American Board of Sleep Disorders Medicine. Dr. Benca's research has focused on several aspects of sleep behavior, including the acute effects of light cycles on sleep and wakefulness, effects of sleep deprivation, and the relationship between sleep abnormalities and psychiatric disorders, in particular the effects of sleep on mood regulatory systems. Her clinical interests include sleep problems associated with psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Cattapan is a clinical assistant professor of pulmonary medicine at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. He specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine with an additional interest in sleep disorders. He is board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine, pulmonary disease and sleep medicine. Dr. Cattapan’s clinical interests include mechanical ventilation, including noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and sleep apnea.

Dr. do Pico is a professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. He specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine with an additional interest in sleep disorders. Dr. do Pico’s research interests include the epidemiology/therapy of cystic fibrosis and occupational lung diseases. His clinical interests are the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing associated with obstructive sleep apnea, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, pulmonary diseases, and respiratory failure due to neuromuscular diseases and kyphoscoliosis.

John is a pharmacist with Wisconsin Sleep. He has a BS in pharmacy and a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his research fellowship at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in Sleep and Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy. His clinical interests include treatment of sleep disorders and management of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. His research interests examine the mechanisms for cardiovascular disease in patients with obstructive sleep apnea and identification of interventions and therapies to minimize and prevent cardiovascular complications. John is a scholar in the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research K12 Research Training Program.
Dr. Green is professor of pediatrics-pulmonary at the University of Wisconsin SMPH and medical director for the UW Health American Family Children’s Hospital. He specializes in pediatric pulmonary medicine and is board certified in pediatric pulmonology and pediatrics. Dr. Green's academic interests focus on diagnostic techniques in pediatric pulmonology, especially flexible bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing, and the assessment of breathing during sleep in children.

Dr. Jones is an associate professor of neurology and internal medicine and director of the Francis M. Forster Epilepsy Center at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. Mary Klink, MD, Clinic Director
Dr. Klink is a clinical associate professor of pulmonary medicine at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. She has been the Medical Director of the Meriter Sleep Center for 15 years and has practiced in the field of sleep medicine for over 20 years. She specializes in sleep-related breathing disorders but also treats the full array of adult sleep disorders. Dr. Klink is board certified in sleep medicine, internal medicine and pulmonary disease.

Kellie Mack is a nurse practitioner with Wisconsin Sleep. Her undergraduate degree is from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Her master’s degree is from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she concentrated on advanced practice geriatric medicine. Mack has worked in both metropolitan hospital settings as well as ambulatory clinics. Most recently, she has worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Occupational Medicine in Milwaukee, WI. Her clinical interests include nutrition, gerontology and sleeping disorders.
Dr. McMahon is a clinical assistant professor of medicine-pulmonary at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. He specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine with an additional interest in sleep disorders. He is board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine. Dr. McMahon’s clinical interests are in sleep-related breathing disorders.

Dr. Rumble is a postdoctoral fellow in clinical psychology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She received an MA and PhD in clinical psychology from Duke University and completed her psychology residency at the Durham VA Medical Center. Her clinical interests include cognitive-behavioral interventions for insomnia as well as behavioral interventions for other sleep disorders. Her research interests include sleep disorders in the context of persistent medical conditions as well as the assessment of sleep disorders. More specifically, Dr. Rumble’s recent doctoral research examined a comprehensive cognitive-behavioral model of insomnia for breast cancer patients with the aim of guiding future insomnia assessment and intervention in this population.
Dr. Teodorescu is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin SMPH. She specializes in sleep and is certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. She is also a board certified specialist in Pulmonary Disorders and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Teodorescu’s research interests include the bidirectional relationship between sleep and its disorders with lung diseases, with a special focus on asthma.
